GRIFFITH / FEMTO, BERSERK (1989--)

"Oh, Blessed King of Longing..."

My favorite character of all time is Griffith from Berserk. This has been a point of contention for a lot of people (understandably so). Before you freak out and click off my site, let it be known that I like Griffith as a sympathetic villain, and I'm not a "Griffith did nothing wrong" truther -- at least, not in such simple terms. I think he is a very interesting example of a morally gray character who makes a lot of bad decisions (some purposeful, most coerced) and seals his fate as evil. I love him very much and can talk or even just THINK about him for hours on end.

You know that one interview where Anne Rice said that the main character from her Vampire Chronicles series, Lestat, lives in her mind, and she never has to think about exactly how he'd act or feel about things? That's how I am with Griffith. We are both ENTJ 3w4, so we view the world and our purposes in it in incredibly similar ways. I have never had a fictional character resonate with me in such a particular way. He is such an interesting character, and, in my opinion, fascinating commentary on two experiences I also have: queer and disabled, and unhappy about both.
